Bon Dance, in Japanese 'Bon Odori', is a traditional Japanese event to welcome the spirits of ancestors during the Bon festival.
As part of the festival, local people gather and dance in a circle to music.
Bon Dance is also an important event that brings the local community together.
On the night of August 16th, an event called Gozan Okuribi (Bonfire on Five Mountains) is held at five locations in Kyoto, where a large bonfire makes characters appear on the mountains. This is a summer tradition to bid farewell to ancestors.
